Is there any you would recommend that has the basic things like rip, burn etc.?

I use iTunes. Works just fine for my very basic needs.

Same here. Although actually what I do is use iTunes for burning, and WMP for burning. I also listen to my music through WMP.

every computer has wmp, just use that.

Thing is mine wasn't genuine and it won't play since I tried updating to 11.
:(

Winamp can rip. For burning I suggest Nero though. Sure it'd be inconvenient but the outcome is pretty solid. At least it's always been for me. Or... you can PM me for a link to make your windows copy a genuine one but alas, such words aren't meant to be spoken!

Just call microsoft, tell them your hard drive crashed, it's OEM, this is the only computer you've installed it on, etc. Bam, it's genuine.

I recommend Winamp for playback and ripping, and RealOne Player for burning

I usually burn a CD in about 4 minutes with RealOne Player.

Posted by Vampiro V. Empire

That's pretty slow actually. Plus, RealOne should be avoided.

Correction: Winamp Pro has ripping and burning, which requires an account name and license key before Pro features are available. Unless you're wise enough to know where to obtain such a thing, Winamp Pro must be purchased.

Like me, MOST of the time.

Thats a shame though his Windows isn't passing the Genuine test. WMP11 is pretty good.

Posted by Trigger

It can be cracked, it's not like their genuine test really stops anyone.

WMP for ripping, SunBurner for burning audio cds, Windows Explorer(?) for burning data cds.

I like using iTunes for everything. It's pretty and has a simple, easy layout.

I find ripping albums and especially burning is really slow with iTunes. Personally I use "RecordNow!" because it came with my computer and does the job well enough for the few times I use it.
