I don't think it'll be that crazy here, but apparently the demand is very high. Nintendo's 400,000 will probably cause a riot. I'm not sure about after-launch releases, though.
Did you expect anything else? They're only getting 100, 000 consoles. That's not unbelievable to the slightest degree.
In the article it said that in the coming weeks Sony was going to release up to 400,000. I thought it was interesting that Nintendo is going to have 400,000 on the first day.
Nintendo has more than 400,000 for launch, as far as I know. Sony has 40,000, maybe youre confusing it with that.
EDIT: Oh, I guess Nintendo's figure is launch period, not day 1.
Whoo hoo? Now I wonder how many of those PS3's are going on ebay....
Its wierd. Getting a console has never been difficult to me. Pre-ordering my Wii was no way near as difficult as it was for some Americans or Japenese people. I find it bizzare. Ive never seen anything like it.
Why would you stay out there if you're more than 25 people or so back in the line? Did they honestly think that everyone in front of them forgot their charge cards? I suppose the fact of exactly how scarce the system didn't exactly reach the brains of everyone, just as it surely hasn't in America, either, but yeesh!
Yeah, people are pretty dumb. This doesn't say much for the human race as a whole. I'd rather wait a while after a system is released and find out what the consumers think about it before shelling out the cash.
theres like one ps3 at launch and ****

I found this article to be quite the eye-opener. I had no idea about all the Chinese/Homeless/Yakuza involved within the whole opening day process. 0_0
It's a sad day for the industry when crime lords and private citizens sell more consoles to gamers than retaillers, and at many multiples of the retail price, no less. That said, I intend to sell a ps3 on ebay for everything some sad, rich douche thinks it's worth. Daddy needs some new Ski-ball machines.
That looks like fun. All these gamers gathered together with their Nintendo DS systems. Think of all the goofy conversations? I wouldn't even go for the system. It's a gamer's party!

Not that many systems, but it's still pretty neat. Apparently the more expensive 60 GB versions sold more, but I'm not sure how many of the 20 GB or 60 GB there were.
