I've never used one of these before, but My current keyboard is getting kind of beat up, and im looking to replace it.

HOWEVER, by january I should be getting set up with a decent gaming laptop, so I'm thinking that this would be better. Can I use this on a laptop (its usb, so im thinking i can...)? If I plug this in, will i still be able to type on the normal keyboard while its hooked up?

Anyone who has used something like this, i'd appreciate some input.

Avoid the first keyboard you posted. The second looks decent, but I can't answer your question.

If you're going to be getting a laptop, you may as well go with the second one. The first one seems a bit bulky anyway.

Oh, and before anyone asks, im getting a solid laptop from a friend who is upgrading. I''ll be paying like 300 dollars for a laptop that he paid over 1300 for.

A $1300 laptop which has depreciated to the value of $300 by now isn't solid, unless he got a really good deal, and he's giving you a bargain.

What are the specs?

Anyway, this is better in general (more ergonomic, looks better, more features, but less buttons) (http://www.twitchguru.com/2004/03/06/game_controller/index.html) unless you play games with too many keys, like BF2. And it doesn't look really stupid. And it makes up for having less keys by having lots of easy-to-use and customisable shift modes, making the total possible key combinations around a hundred.

"and he's giving you a bargain."

I THINK YOU MAY HAVE STUMBLED ON SOMETHING THERE.

"OS Requirements: Windows 98/ME, 2000, and XP"

Heck, this keyboard is so powerful, it requires three operating systems instead of one!
