NES Tip Videos

Posted by Roth

Hey all. I've recently started making videos of tips on NES games. If you would like to check them out, they're on YouTube at:

http://www.youtube.com/slydogstudios

I'm going to try to keep putting out one a week for awhile hopefully. There are three up right now. Lemme know what you all think!

Posted by Proto Man

That's pretty cool. Too bad I don't have any of those games. :( It's like watching G4 without all the fluff.

Posted by Boner

Good stuffs.

Posted by Dexter

Fun. I'll check up on it often to see what new games you add.

Show me how to play that piano corrently in Star Trophics. :(

gah... I haven't gotten that far. What chapter is that in?

Posted by Dexter

Oh, I don't remember. I've been stuck there for about 2 years, unfortunately. Star Trophics 2 is waiting for me whenever I defeat the original. :(

Oh REALLY? LOL all the more for me to beat it then. I am going to my dad's this weekend, so I will be able to play it. So if I get to that point and beyond, I will let you know. That is... if our friend Roth doesn't make a video about it first. lol

Posted by Jesse Smith

Can you post them on Google?? Then we can download them!!!!!

Posted by Klarth

You can download from YouTube if you have FF's VideoDownloader extension :)

Posted by Roth

Thanks for checking it out everyone :) I'll probably post these on other vid sites too, so maybe Google will be one Jess ;) The one I'm working on now is... well, kinda meh. The game itself sucks, but I really want to put it up anyway. It'll be out soon.

I'll keep making more for sure though. It's pretty fun. Also, the Double Dragon video is going to be featured on ScrewAttack.com this Sunday :D I'm excited about that!

everything you ever wanted to know about Star Tropics and how to beat it.

nice video's there dude

keep it up man, whats the next video gonn be?

Posted by ZEN

The tip videos turned out really well (now that I finally got online to see them). Even though gaming tips are everywhere, "video" is truly the best teaching tool.

But... but... 'Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde'? Wow, you actually played that enough to get good at it?
Just... wow.

Quoting Proto Man: It's like watching G4 without the crappy retardation factor and it's actually "video game related".

^FIXED

hahaha i love them man

can i ask a request? if so, do one for contra... i allready can complete the game :D without the code :D
and max out the score, but i just want to see how you handle a game of that magnitude

Thanks man, glad you like them :) I actually thought about "slobber slapping" my Dr. Jekyll cartridge, but being a collector, I figured that wouldn't be too wise ;) I'll see what I can do about a Contra vid. It's pretty much a straight-forward game, but I'm sure I can come up with some tips that could help out a beginner or three.

As for the vids being on Google Video...

per request of Jesse:

Ninja Gaiden
Jaws
Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde

If there are anymore requests or whatever, just let me know :) :) :)

EDIT: For those that care, here's the actual link to Double Dragon being featured on ScrewAttack:
http://screwattack.com/Flash%20HTML/Random/g1submission/DDtips.html ... it's still on the front page for now, too.

You should do them in the style of the angry Nintendo nerd.

Quoting Klarth: You should do them in the style of the angry Nintendo nerd.

"I'd rather piss a cactus out my dick then play this piece of horseshit... but at least I can max out my hearts on this part."

No that's not going to work.
He's entertaining for mockery videos. Gaming tips and strategy stuff should try to remain more "low key" though (as not to detract from the main purpose of the video).

Although Roth does add in some subtle things to make it more entertaining (hint: Jabber Jaws).

To Roth, what game is the opening theme music from?

there's already a second guy who does that. he's here. i generally find his videos to be not very enjoyable, but they all have high ratings. so, enjoy!

Ha, it's something I wrote in NerdTracker2. I like making NES music... it's a blast, so why not include some of the tunes in the vids I guess :P

There's a Castlevania and Karnov one up now if anyone wants to see:

Hey that's pretty sweet! As for those other videos, I didn't like them too much. Roth's are 10x better!

This is pretty neat Roth. I watched the Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde video, that game is really hard and weird. You did a pretty good job with it and beat the game.

I don't know, I think I'll just stick with The Angry Nintendo Nerd's NES reviews.. Great videos though.

I just got another vid up today, and this time it's of Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!!. Man I love this game. There are so many different strategies that you can use on it and it's tough to get all of them on there. I went ahead and covered most of them I think though. Anywho, the link to the channel is still the same:

If you just want to go to the Tyson vid, here's the link for that:

Thanks for all the comments! You guys rock!

I would comment, Roth. But I don't feel like creating up a Youtube account. That Tyson video was superb, brought back alot of good memories. Thanks, looking forward to more of your insightful tips. If possible, could you make a video about Top Gun?

pretty good and thorough video. the only thing that could've been mentioned that wasn't was when you're fighting don flamenco the first time. when he get's up, you don't need to go through the motions of dodging and counter-punching. you can just punch him in the stomach as he rears back for his uppercut to get stars and then just knock him out with one.

What's up freaks? I'm here to tell you about the newest vids I have out. The two most recent are Zen: Intergalactic Ninja, and The Simpsons: Bart vs. The Space Mutants. The latter one has gotten alot of response too :)

Also, what's even more significant about those two videos is that they sport the new intro that was designed by a guy named RobotBling. He did an awesome job on it!

Simpsons vid: http://youtube.com/watch?v=QwhlLFGtIMM

If you check them out, be sure to rate them too!

Double post!

The new vid is up for the week, and it's Bionic Commando:

Pretty cool game. If you haven't played it, I suggest you do sometime :) Remember to rate the video if you watch please!
