so for the past few weeks my ipod [video, 30 gb] has been constantly freezing up and delaying play etc etc but i was still able to connect it to my computer and transfer vids and songs fine
.. until today!
whenever i try to turn it on, it gives me a picture of a folder with like a caution "!" sign along with the url to apple's support site. i went to the support site and it told me nothing. it takes quite a few minutes when i connect it via usb for my computer to even recognize it as a device and it isn't recognized by itunes or winamp. on my mom's laptop i was able to get the ipod updater to recognize it in a futile attempt to reset it back to factory settings, but the updater would always freeze up before i could click anything. i can't access my ipod via my computer anymore either. it just stalls out and i have to end up ctrl+alt+deleting to exit the my computer window.
SO.
if anyone knows how to fix this or get it to recognize the ipod just long enough to revert back to factory settings, pleeeaaase lemme know.
otherwise, i need some good alt mp3 player brands [i'd prefer ones that also play video]. i've heard creative zen is a good choice.
My shuffle worked perfectly until the week before they annouced the new iPods, and now it's delaying play, being glitchy, etc. It is like 2 years old now, though, and I guess it's time for it to die.
Sorry, I can't offer any help. Well, I mean, I could to you to smash it to peices but you'll only feel better for a few minutes and it won't do much for you long term.
Go to an apple outlet(pure Apple store) and ask them to send it back to the factort/techy guy place to get it fixed.
If you want a new one. I suggest the Creative Zen 30GB plays music and video($299 canadian)

Get that. Format your ipod. Restore.
