Who cares. AMD is just as good if not better, except cheaper. So I never really pay attention to them. All I know is that they're coming out in early 2007 and plans have already started for eight core.

[quote=The Mac Observer]Intel is moving up its production schedule so that it can release the quad-core desktop and server chips before the end of they year instead of some time in the first half of 2007. The chips, according to CNET, will actually be two dual-core processors on a single socket board. The quad-core processors due in 2007 from AMD will feature four cores in a single chip.

Paul Otellini, Intel's CEO, said "We notified customers we're pulling in both the desktop and server (launch) of the first quad-core processors into the fourth quarter of this year from the first half of 2007."

The company has released several of its processor products early this year. The dual-core "Woodcrest" chip was released in the second quarter, leading to speculation that Apple will announce an Intel-based replacement for the Power Mac G5 at its World Wide Developer Conference in August.

Intel's early release of "Kentsfield," the quad-core desktop processor, and "Clovertown," its server counterpart, means that we could potentially see single quad-core and dual quad-core Macs as early as the first half of 2007.
Don't people use Google these days?

Wrong. Core 2 Duo processors are cheaper and faster than AMD, now.

And only a fool or someone who does like 9 things at once would want 8+ cores when almost all programs can only use one.

Doesn't have much to do with anything.

LOL THAT'S NOT HOW YOU SPELL PROCESSORS.

Now, for the true "meat" of the post...

AMD > Intel for gaming.

Intel > AMD for multimedia, etc.

I used to be an Intel fan for years until around last year or so when I gave AMD a whirl. It outperforms Intel to such a great extent in video games. However, thanks to dual core and multi-threaded applications, Intel owns in running such applications as dreamweaver, photoshop, etc. whilst also uploading a file! Super duper if you ask me!

As for 6 or 8 "prossessors" on a single chip... I haven't really heard anything about that. Don't rule out the possibility of them working on one. I'm sure they are. Just don't expect them to release a PR anytime soon.
