And that school is my school.
Please let this be heard. ;_;
Your school is stopping you seeing sites to help you learn? WTF
"I was motivated to take action as yesterday the school admin team altered the settings of the proxy server used which presented several inconveniences for myself and the rest of the student body:
- Access to the iTunes music store is now impossible
- Many blogs, news sites and social networks are now inaccessible
- The school's DC++ hub has been shut down
- MSN Messenger no longer functions."
Haha thank gawd you still have access to VGC.
Anyways that sucks I'm glad my school only block newgrounds.com and porn sites.

I may sound like a douche, but school will do that. It costs schools bandwidth to surf the Internet, and they don't want some kid going online to search someones blog, or IM someone. Our school is the same way. I used to be able to get on VGC, but one day forgot to delete it from the history before closing down.
But yeah every video game site is blocked here as well. Wikipedia has yet to be blocked here, because even the teachers use it for many things.
Here we still have access to wikipedia, but its been questioned in the past weeks because its becoming an easy source of information for everyone.
Also, they forbid games (of course) chat (no MSN messenger) (although a lot of students just download it and chat while the librarian isen't looking) porn sites are blocked as well (of course)
Because of the explicit content of newgrounds, they decided to block the site. Happytreefriends is also blocked, but that's not a problem.
Forums aren't allowed at my school either, but I managed to make the librarian believe that this is one of the sites where you send E-mails, so she lets go and doesn't check it up.
What helps is that the history gets cleared as soon as I log out of my student session on the comp. :p:

Mainly because I'm currently using a teacher's credentials to get onto the network.

This place takes in 800 kids, all of whose parents pay £20,000+ a year to keep them here. I'm pretty positive they can afford all the bandwidth they please.
See, it isn't quite as bad for you guys: You have a home to return to every day. I live here, and this is the only way I can get online.
Eh, my school's firewall is getting ridiculous. Literally any site that has any games has been blocked. The only game sites you can find are really obscure ones you ind on Google. Sites like VGC work, since all they are are VB forums. But all proxy sites, mail sites, etc have been blocked. Even VGCats and Legendaryfrog wouldn't work. :(
Wow...
and I used to think that Bess was bad.
haet Bess so much
Fun to fiddle with the 'this site is blocked' screen, though. Edit the URL or whatever to say a site is blocked for some ridiculous reason.
My computer blocks VGC so I just go on wiki to learn about things that intrest me.
Well, that's the thing. In a school like mine, going on a site like VGC would dub you a huge nerd and your reputatoin would go much down. :)
I mean "Video Game Chat"

I forgot about you living in school. I would never be able to handle it. I believe my parents only have to pay a school tax, plus about 10 dollars a week for lunch. That's just for a public school though.
Do you go to a private school or something?

Yes. Very exclusive, very snobbish and I'm surrounded by extremely spoilt people.
Wait, so your parents pay $40,000ish USD for your highschool education? A year? WTF?! You could have a new Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution 8 for that every year! Hell, for $40,000, I could pay for four whole years at UNM, boarding, all bills, and even start toward my MBA! Jeez, man.
My parents don't pay shit - dad broke all ties when I was twelve and left mum penniless. My bill only actually totals £11,000 a year as I'm on a "financial difficulties scholarship" and I've got around eight different people paying parts of my bills - It's mainly my brother who's footing the bills, though.
I'm thinking about going up to the Uni campus with Jar tomorrow and just chilling on the hillside and raping the wifi - if it's freely usable. hmmm
Yeesh I thought my school was annoying on the internet. And that sucks about your bill as well ;_;
They blocked video.google for Klarth too ...
Since my classroom is part of the local public education internetwork thingy, I get all of the securities piled on top of another as they go down the network tree.
EVERYTHING except port 80/443/20/21 are blocked, which immediately gets rid of everything non-HTTP/S/FTP. On top of that they have one of those keyword blockers that blocks anything remotely resembling bad words. They've blocked certain websites, but all I can think of right now is Angelfire. Google Video & YouTube seem to randomly work, althought I think they may have fixed that lately. And finally, they recently added cookies to force Google to search in restricted mode, also blocking anything remotely bad.
....But Klarth still has it worse. I only have to put up with that crap at school, he has it 24/7.
P.S. www.your-freedom.de or similar ;)
EDIT: I agree about blocking the classroom internet (except Wikipedia), but the students should have the ability to have their dorms unblocked if given adult/guardian consent.
*was going to suggest TOR* lol nvm
I seem to remember finding a proxy that was deliberately developed so that anyone searching for 'proxy' wouldn't find it. I'll see if I can dig it up (although I guess that searching for 'proxy' won't help me in any way, heh).
Flyproxy.com ?
The one I found was at http://www.justprivacy.com but it seems that it's been pulled. Try to contact the guy at http://www.jayssite.com and see if he has it somewhere else.
