Buy or DL? Plz buy. :( They are a poor band - its not like Linkin Park or anything and its not expensive either.

Posted by Vampiro V. Empire

Yeah, I'll probably find some site to buy it from. I usually buy the albums from bands I wish to support.

Posted by Philsdad

That's cool, thanks for supporting them. If you do buy it online, make sure to get it from LobeFood as that's their online store and they'll get much more per copy than Amazon or wherever else.

Yeah, someone just sent me the link todoay. I'll definitely pick it up from there.

So after a 3 year hiatus, the new Estradasphere album is finally out. And it's pretty awesome. It's a lot different than anything they've done before, but that was to be expected since they have a new instrumental lineup. This album is a lot more composed/orchestrated, and a lot less jammy. It's just as diverse as any other Estradasphere album, just with different genres. This time around we have some symphonic music, some progressive world pieces, 60s spy movie themes alongside video game music, romanian gypsy death metal, jazz, some straight up experimental/noise pieces, and a lot more.

Check out this album if you can, and give it a chance. And go see them live if they are coming to your area. It will be a great time!

Wow, this album is so kickassin'. I love it. My favorite is the first track and more. I think the Unfolding one and Garden of an Evil Man is a tad too much for me, though.

Quoting Vampiro: surfer-rock <3

Hell yeah man, gotta love the surf rock. Interestingly enough, I was reading the liner notes and neither of the two guitarists in the band recorded the surf guitar parts. It was the bassist who recorded most of it and I think the violinist may have recorded some as well.

So I recently got back from a 3 day road trip, for Estradasphere's "Palace of Mirrors" tour (didn't see you in Toronto, Vamp :(.) And boy, what an adventure that was. As usual, they completely blew my mind. They played two sets, the first with a lot of obscure covers. They transcribed Chopin's "Fantasy Impromptu" (piano piece) to guitar, did some Ennio Morricone and Nino Rota old film covers, some old gypsy tunes with metal parts, a really sick cover of a Saint-Saens' violin concerto with some doses of metal, and other goodness. They closed the first set with a MIND BLOWING shamisen solo by Kevin and then the song Those Who Know...

The second half was the rest of the Palace of Mirrors album in its entirety in order, with projections on the screen to tell a story. This set was even better than the first. Some of the songs on the album really came to life when performed live, such as Six Hands. Instead of just six hands on a piano like on the album, they used violin, accordion, shamisen, guitar, etc.

There was a lot of instrumental diversity as well. Between the 6 guys on stage, there were 4 keyboards, violin, trumpet, accordion, melodica, shamisen, standup bass, electric bass, banjo, mandolin, about 7 or 8 different guitars (lapsteel, jazz, metal, classical, etc) and a HUGE drum kit.

Aside from the musical part of the experience, the rest of the time was amazing too. Since I saw them 3 nights in a row, I really got a chance to get to know the band members a bit. We hung out for hours after each show, and just talked and blazed and stuff. They're all really down to earth guys, they have no problem just getting to know fans, answering all sorts of questions and just chilling.

Here's a list of the rest of the tour dates Check it out and see if they're coming to your area. I HIGHLY recommend seeing them if they coming close by to you, it will be awesome.

I know  It was thanksgiving so I didn't have a choice. I tried, but I had to be there.

Haha, your Canadian thanksgiving is deliciously inconvenient. :)

Yeah, hopefully next time they come this way, it won't be a Holiday. Anyway, here are a few videos that someone took of the Montreal show. Not the best quality, but still worth checking out.
