Can someone give me a recommendation for a program [other than Paint or Photoshop] for making images by scratch? For smaller and more intricate things like people, etc. I just found it rather difficult to do on Photoshop ... maybe because I don't have a huge lot of experience.
Artrage is a program that lets you draw as if you were actually using real painting, drawing, etc tools. There is a free version. http://www.ambientdesign.com/artragedown.html

Corel Draw is also another good program, I've found.
