for now on, if you post a pornographic picture without warning and an effective censor, then you get a week long ban for the first offense, month for the second, then permaban :D
no more "but itz natural to like pr0ns!" and such. most porn here is posted jokingly, so you've forfeited that excuse. also, this is and always has been a rule and it's not subject to change depending on who you are, where it was posted, or how small the infraction may be. it's always been accepted when an unpopular member posted such material and a week ban for you guys is more than nice of me. i'm not saying porn is wrong and you should be ashamed for viewing it, but it doesn't belong here. any more attempts to change this rule or make up random excuses and avoid any sort of persecution will be ignored

There is a bit of controvery about this concerning the rules of porn, etc. etc. I am ambivalent/don't care/whatever but I thought it would be easier to settle it here with some more concrete outlines decided by everyone here so both sides can settle down.

This is how I feel it should be; but at the same time, if the material is being used for the purpose of humor... then where do you draw the line? Exactly when is it funny, when is it not, when does it go too far? Basically, these are questions that would require a lot of rules and a very strict code and that'd be extremely pointless. The way I figure it, it's best to just be without it. You guys have 4chan and similar sites, so keep it there. There's no need to make vgc another 4chan when that site is already available.
Simply put, I'm closer to (if not completely agreeing with) Iris's policy/point of view on this.

While I guess I'm in the category of allowing them to do whatever they want (as long as it is clearly labelled as inappropriate material, and not displayed directly), I guess i'll have to concede that it would take the quality of this place down a(nother) notch.

Actually enforcing the rule that it's not allowed seems like it would keep people from wanting to post it to me! :cookie: Allowing it to any extent is going to have the opposite effect. Some people will want to post it because they know they can get by with it if it's censored. It can only get worse from there.
As far as I know, porn has never been allowed at all, so why is allowing it with censorship even being put into consideration?

Here's the story. We were talking in DA about weird porn we've seen. Part of this conversation was me posting a few examples of said porn. Iris saw it and freaked out. I tried to convince her to just let it alone and give us a break; no one but us DAers would see it, and no other mods would ever complain about it since Iris is our only lurker. I failed to convince her, so it was pretty much, "fine, whatever, we'll never do it again, *slit wrists*"
I won't hide that I think it's stupid that every makes a big deal about nudity. But it's not like I wanted to try and rage against the porn rule, I know perfectly well how futile that would be. I specifically said, I think, that I wasn't like I wanted to bring this to the mod board for debate. We resolved this issue on our own. This thread has no purpose, the announcement had no purpose, and I move that they both be deleted and everyone stfu. Quit blowing it out of proportion and taking everything I say the wrong way.[/color]

As moderators, we're supposed to take it upon ourselves to enforce those rules the best we can. Notice how, since someone suggested my modship, that I have stopped skipping censors? Jesse says porn is a no, so it's a no. I don't mind it, and apparently neither do you, but the rules are against it so that's the way it's going to be.

Look, I have no idea what's so complicated about this. In the first place, I, Linko_16, having perfect knowledge of the rules against hentai and pornography, posted some. Upon being caught by a fellow supermod, I then persuaded her to accept and ignore it such that it would go unnoticed. So you all can stop treating me like I don't know full well what you have a problem with.
On the other hand, I did this on one occasion, at a time when it was 100% relevent to our conversation, and in a place where no present users would be offended by such material, no, not even the lurking supermod. So, yeah, I broke the rules, but quit acting like I'm a raging perverted maniac out to make a porn site of VGC.

This is the opposite of teenage rebellion. I'm agreeing to follow the rules, like I always have, despite my disagreements. Yeah, I broke the rule 'cause I thought I could get away with it, and now I'm "lol shamed and disgraced."

Porn, uncensored, should be strictly unallowed, anywhere. "Censored porn", well, I guess that's the debate. Once censored, it's completely relative. One can call it porn, one can not. If we establish rules for it, then it'd have to be taken into account how far the "porn" can go. =/
