-New Computer (amd 64 fx 3800+ minimum, pc3200 mobo minimum, at least 1gig of ram, 7600gts or better, at least 200 gig hard drive)

-Parts for truck (lsd rear axle, engine rebuild, race profile cam, cold air intake, straight pipes from headers back, port polish, engine rebuild, ECU remap)

Thats all I can think of at the moment. Then again, the computer will run me close to a thousand to get together, and the truck, with parts and labor, is going to take a few years and set me back, by the time I'm done with it, about $10,000. Long term goal with the truck is to get it to run 12s in the quarter mile.

Yoshi's Island II
Set of really nice pens to write in my notebook with/ Silver sharpie
Music Box

I can't really think of anythign for me. When I had a girlfriend though, I could think of a whole bunch of things for her.

Posted by Crazy K

Nintendo WII
Possibly either a 360 or PS3
New souped up computer
A nice MP3 player
New shirts
Some DVDs
Some PS2 games

But this would require I, myself to get some sort of job.

Posted by WILLETH FOR MONTHS

Look, if there were realistic, they wouldn't be on a wishlist. We'd already have them (within reason - I mean, not a PS3. But whatever). We'd have the money and we'd go buy them. Since we don't, it's not realistic, someh.

Oh, and Last Fog: Yes, yes, and yes. Although I'd prefer them in that translucent white you get sometimes.

That's one way to look at it, or you could look at it as it was meant to be: Things you can easily buy, but at the moment are unable to or just haven't. A wallet is realistic, I just can't find one I want to buy. A rocket ship that will fly me to Pluto is unrealistic for many reasons, even though it's something that I believe to be an interesting purchase... if it was realistic. But it's not. Which is the point.

I regard games as art, does collecting art qualify as materialism?

Posted by mis0

I find these to be realistic:

- Some sort of Apple iBook, I've just about had it with Windows @ $1,200+.

- New glasses @ $400.
- A better fan for my desk @ $20.
- College books @ $600/semester.
- Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution 8 MR @ $36,300*.

* Mitsubishi: I will be getting one of these once I'm out of college. I already have ore than half of the cash needed for one, and with my projected savings in four years, I should be able to buy it outright with no sort of monthly payment or anything. Now I just need patience.

It's for your enjoyment, not your necessity, so yes.

- Gibson Les Paul
- Dimarzio Tone Zone/Air Norton for RG
- Monster Cables
- Digitech Whammy
- Hohner Harmonica
- Ukele
- Playstation 3/Wii/Xbox 360 k done

A few 5.25 bay HDD coolers
A few more HDDs
A good MIDI keyboard
A concertina
A glass sherlock bubbler
a VRC
a NY State Parks seasonal parking pass

More than anything, I'd like to have actual copies of all the music on this computer that I enjoy. Distribution and limited pressings hinder this wish from becoming a reality though.

Others:
-A new car! My A/C is out and I live in Texas. Add that up and cry. Plus, my car's just about had it and it's ugly, so I'd like to get something new for myself.
-A house or apartment. Just some way to get the hell out of here. I love my parents, but I need some independence before I become completely dedicated to a single profession for the rest of my life (after college).

That's about it, because the rest is basically too minor to even mention.

That's not materialistic, in my opinion. To me, materialism is having something just for the sake of having it, like jewellery, designer labels, hundreds of shoes and 4x4s in urban areas, as opposed to having something because it has artistic, practical and entertainment value.

Wii
So very many upcoming DS titles
Symphony of the Night
That patch for GG
A laptop (Not the ****ty one I have right now. A better one.)

Right, but wouldn't owning the actual copy of something make it material? For instance, if I downloaded an album, that'd be purely about listening to the music just because it's music and owning an actual copy wouldn't be necessary as I can appreciate the art without owning something tangible. Actually owning the album would make the whole thing materialistic because you're treating it as somewhat of a product and something other than the art that it is.

The same can be applied to your example, you could just download games. Well, that's how I view it at least, art and what differentiates it from being a product - or if those two things are seperate in the first place - is entirely subjective.
