Iris's Plan Thing

Quoted post: I came up with a pretty funny idea for solving this. :( It should be able to please the mods and Jesse, but I doubt it'll be taken seriously. I say we bring back the Big Brother forum and allow banned people to post in it only. The members moved to the user group can't view other boards. We won't be voting people off or anything, just watching banned people make topics and such. We can rename it appropriately as well. We can keep the flame board for legitimate arguments and use the Big Brother forums for banned members. It seems pretty harmless and it won't need much moderation.

Seems like a decent idea. There are a couple of flaws though. First, it'll only work with temporary bans, sort of like temporary confinement. Permanently putting people in such a forum is just dumb. Second of all, I can see people purposely breaking rules, trying to get into this forum. Just to screw with the people that are supposed to be there. I know that seems a little unorthodox, but this is Video Game Chat we're talking about.

Although I like the idea (after working out the flaws), I don't see Jesse doing it.

Since when does the flame board have legitimate arguements in it?

Oh, and yeah, go ahead.

I don't see either of these as a problem because, like the real Big Brother we did a while ago, it's not exactly going to be fun or interesting trapped inside just one forum. It's okay for all banned members to post there because it's not like they're going to want to hang out there forever (even if they do, who cares?). And, really, who's going to break rules intentionally in order to get into such a boring forum?

Point I was really trying to make is we'd still need to be able to permanently ban people from the entire forum. To get rid of advertisers, plain idiotic spammers, and puppets.

Like I said, "I know that seems a little unorthodox, but this is Video Game Chat we're talking about." The question isn't, "what reason do they have to do something stupid?" it's "what reason DON'T they have to do something stupid?"

I was under the impression that this would be an out-of-the-way board pretty much no one wanted to go to, except maybe for a laugh. Not like the Flame Board, where members can post, too, but like the old BB forum where it's restricted only to members in that usergroup. So, like I said, even if they want to hang out there forever, who cares? They're not able to harrass anyone on the rest of the forums.

How about "It's really boring, you'll have nothing to do for a week, and you might get permanently banned when you were just shooting for a temp one?" This is not an interesting board people would make that kind of effort to be able to post in. If it seems like they really would want in on it, then let members post there as well. There'd be no temptation to break rules at all that way.

We can still delete ads and porn, but other than that, let them spam all they want. They'll wear themselves out eventually, and it's not going to interfere with the rest of the board.
