Don't have a Ferrari? Just knit yourself one.

Lauren Porter, the chick who's responsible for this, is an art student who designed this for her final project. It took 10 months, 12 miles of yarn, and she also welded together the steel frame that the wool was placed on.

I want to marry her.

That's the best thing I've ever seen. Now if only it was actually functional...

Posted by Lord of Spam

Yarn ads like 20bhp. I'd drive it.

I donno...looks shopped to me...I think I can see pixels in the upper right hand quadrant.

If that thing is for real - then it > all

If its for real, then its **** sweet!

Bet she got an A.
DUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUH
Posted by Xero

Its not made outta legos! Impressive... I like it.

Posted by Linko_16

She was worrying about her final project ten months ahead of time?

Very cool, though.

Posted by Arcadios

I like the ruby Lotus Elise in the back more.

I came back to this thread, but when I read the title, it came to me as, "Don't have a Ferrari? Just kill yourself."
Art graduate Lauren Porter knitted a Ferrari sportscar for her honours degree at Bath Spa University.

The classic red bodywork consists of 250 squares of garter stitch made by Lauren and 20 family members and friends.
The windows are V-shaped stocking stitch, while the details are crochet and the badge is embroidered.
It's all supported by a steel frame which Lauren, 22, of Greatham, Hants, welded herself.

Pwned.

I present you this.

An Italian woodworker sculpted that so he could ride through the canals of Venice in style. He has a few more car replicas, too.

This is easily just as cool. ;)

Posted by WILLETH FOR MONTHS

It's much more cool. It's actually functional - and it's not painted.

I'd pay good money for a wooden Ferrari.

Posted by Lord of Spam

I'm suprised he managed to keep it afloat. I assume the bottom is still shaped like a normal boat, but the outline of the car would still make it a pretty weird design.

Posted by Roger Smith

You do know I was kidding right?

I was quoting Klarth when I said that...

Posted by Arcadios

She's hawt and the fact that she could knit that makes me even more attracted to her.

Posted by Eggroll

I'd like to sleep on top of that

Posted by Arcadios

Quoting Eggroll: I'd like to sleep on top of that

The girl or the car?

Posted by Roger Smith

I'd rather sleep on the car IMHO.

Quoting Roger Smith: You do know I was kidding right?

^What he said.

Posted by Eggroll

lol! no i meant the girl

...eww

Posted by FIST OF FURY

Posted by Eggroll

The shape of the bottom of a boat is just for hydro dynamics. Cuts water easier if its a V shape. Maybe there is some efficiency with the design in terms of displacement/mass, which is the important thing in making a boat. If it can displace more water than it weighs, then it works.

ps: If he made this from a Fir tree, would this be a Firrari? /pun

Posted by WackoHater2

Thats a pretty awesome car, as are all of the ones he's made.

I love the thread title.
