*** UNIVERSAL TRICK FOR CUTTING TIME *** When you catch a Chocobo
and send it to the Stables, its
sex has not yet been determined. Chocobo sex is determined when you
move Chocobos from the fence
to the stables (so, in Chocobo Ranch). Always save just before
entering Chocobo Ranch! This way,
if you mess up with Chocobo sexes, you can reset and restart.
First off, you need a Great Female chocobo & a good chocobo. Mate
these 2 with a carob nut & you will get either a:
Blue chocobo (River Chocobo)
OR a
Green chocobo (Mountain Chocobo)
NOTE:-->
1) A Great Female chocobo from the tracks near Mideel. (must be with
2 Spirals or 1 Spirals)
2) A Good Male chocobo from the tracks SE of Gold Saucer. Be careful;
there are several types of chocobos here, but you MUST have a
Good
chocobo. (must be with 2 Spencer)
Once you have both blue & green chocobos, their sexes must be
opposite too, (green male, blue female, etc..) then you will be able
to breed a black chocobo which you must race up to S class.
Next you will need a wonderful chocobo, (make sure it can mate with
you black chocobo). You can get a wonderful chocobo in the icicle
region, just make sure the following enemies are with the chocobo:
1 Jumping or 2 Jumping
After you have your wonderfull chocobo, breed it with your black
chocobe & you have a golden chocobo now!
You can do the following with your brand new gold chocobo!
* Reach the Circular Mountain Range with the Waterfall in it, put
Vincent Valentine in your party,
enter the cavern behind the Waterfall and get his Limit 4 Manual
(CHAOS) and his Ultimate Weapon
(Death Sentence). If they doesn't appear immediately, just pass by
again later.
* Reach the uncharted island at the far Northeast of the map to get
the legendary Knight of the
Round Summoning Materia, the most damaging materia of the game
(with a 255 Magic pg, it does
around 90.000 damage) and the only way to beat the Weapons without
dying of age
* Reach the cavern on a peninsula near Wutai and get the Mime
Materia (that is NEEDED if you want
to have a hope of beating Ruby Weapon or Emerald Weapon)
* Reach the cavern on a peninsula near Mideel and get the Quadra
Magic Materia
* Reach an island south of Cosmo Canyon (keep going south) where you
can find the Cactuer, an
ominous creature immune to everything except Poison, Ultima and
KoTR (might be hit by something
else, don't remember). You can morph it for Tetra-Elemental.
* Reach the Cave in the desert, near North Corel where you can find
the (IMHO useless) HP<->MP
Replace Materia.
* Reach the Old Forest, in the forest just uphill near Cosmo Canyon
where you can find, along with
other goods, the Slice All Materia that makes the Battle Arena the
easier job of your life [You
can reach the old forest also by beating Ultimate Weapon, that will
destroy the mountain that
blocks the passage to the area].

Uber secret special hack: Open the disc cover of your Playstation and swap in disc one of Xenogears. Then reset your console and enjoy the best Squaresoft game ever made.

I was working on getting a Gold Chocobo. But it was so G[color=indigo]oddamned boring that I just forgot about it.[/color]
I really prefer to obtain that gold chocobo by fighting with Ruby Weapon.I know that it's a little bit difficult, but you have it more quickly since you don't have to go island by island trying to get the right ones and train them until you feel so exausted and start to pray to "finally obtain" this special and yet so rare chocobo of all times.For me, it's much better that way even though it took me a couple of game overs,some curses,and stuff...but I have it at last,it's worth it. :-D
