Avenged Sevenfold Live
Posted by MoogsIf you can remember back in April I was saying in a thread I was going to see A7X in Atlanta, but my ride couldn't take me. So now I want to ask you all if they are worth seeing in concert. They are coming here to Memphis the 14th of July. So, Have you seen them live? Are they good? Also if you have seen Bleeding Through comments on them as well, thanks.
Posted by G-SidesThere's bound to be concert footage on Youtube or a site like that.
Posted by Vampiro V. EmpireIs it worth it? No, not really. Unless they're co-headlining with another band you really want to see. Shadows' vocals are actually worse live (amazingly that's possible), and the guitar, though decent, is a bit sloppy. However, they manage to put on a good show and the crowd was really into the time I went. They're just insane enough without ruining the show for you (unlike AFI fans...).
I guess it just depends on how big of a fan you are of their new material. Since, well, that's just about all they're good for these days.
Posted by MoogsAh, so they play NO old material?
Posted by Vampiro V. EmpireThey do... just not a whole lot. If I recall, only about one or two songs (off of Waking). They're just, uh, done really badly. Shadows either doesn't scream, or attempts it and can't. But if you're a big fan, that shouldn't be a problem. The guitars and drums may not be up to studio quality, but they're still decent. Plus, they put on a good show, and that's probably one of the most important parts.
Like I said, it comes down to how much you like them and how much the tickets are (I personally refuse to pay over thirty dollars for any ticket).
Posted by brownoysterculti heard they're *******s. they spit on fans faces and sock em and **** like that.

Many bands do that. Mainly because they can.
Posted by MoogsYes, I have only encountered one band(underOATH) thats I saw being extremely nice.
But they are 23 bucks so I think I'm going to go since it's a small 1000 person theatre.

There's a chance I'm going to see them on Friday (Warped Tour). I'm not a fan by any means, but a lot of my friends are going and I'll probably have a good time regardless. Either way, Flogging Molly will be there and I like them.
Posted by Vampiro V. EmpireWho, AFI? If so, it might be different if it's outside, but both times I've seen them the fans were probably the worst I've ever seen (and I've been to a Slipknot show...)
Posted by MoogsAFI fans worse than Slipknot? hmm...
Posted by Vampiro V. EmpireIt's true, believe it or not. AFI fans are almost terrifying.
Posted by NoirHaha, that's why I don't go to rock concerts. A friend tried to take me to Redrum once and...nuh uh.
Rap concerts I prefer, although they can be a bit scary too. You just have to look intimidating. ;)
Posted by Vampiro V. EmpireRock concerts are fine. As are metal concerts (hardcore kids will usually get the **** kicked out of them if they try to throwdown), it's just the metalcore/hardcore/scream crowd you have to watch out for.

Yeah, metal. I just call anything along the lines of that rock. (When I say rock, I mean like Soulfly, Mudvayne, Drowning pool, Seether, etc.)
Posted by sabreThat said, prog fans and power metal fans are some of the nicest concert-goers I've seen. They actually hold the door open for you and you can have nice discussions in the queue, and are perfectly approachable and willing to have a chat. I've always been amazed.
Posted by KlarthThat's because they're not depressed goths, punks or twelve-year-olds.

Well, in a way I can. The Slipknot show I went to the fans were insane. I can't imagine how the AFI fans are if they are worse.
Posted by Shin_AkumaI'm not a fan of Avenged Seven Fold, but their drummer is pretty good from what i've heard. He makes good use of rudiments with his feet.

Go to a Black Metal show sometime. You'll get a couple jerks here and there, but they're by far the nicest crowd I've met. Mind you, I've never been to a real power metal concert (closest was an Iced Earth/CoB show), but I can't imagine a more open/passionate group of people.

Well, Slipknot fans will go insane in their little packs beating the **** out of each other. AFI fans do the same... except they don't seem to stay in packs. They're everywhere kicking and punching. When I went to the Slipknot show, it was quite hard to maneuver myself out of the crowd, but with AFI, I couldn't even move. If you tried to push someone out of the way, they would most likely turn around and punch you in the face. It's not fun.
Posted by Shin_AkumaFigures, ****ty fans for a ****ty band.

Yeah, AFI. I've been to a Slipknot show before as well (Ozzfest 04) and I agree those fans are awful. Still, the worst fans I've seen were the ones at Ozzfest who went there to see Slayer. I've never seen such a mix of bikers, big mexicans, and skinheads in all my life. Having it in San Antonio, Texas didn't help either. Anyway, that pit was insane and I'm not too eager to be close to the stage for a Slayer show. Ever.

Well then, I can't wait to kick the shit out of some rude scene kids today. :D

Well, when I went to see In Flames, the people there weren't rude, they were pussies. You had the idiots hardcore dancing. Some people were backing up afraid of getting the **** knocked out of them. So I was being pushed back during that. And I was getting ****ed myself. underOATH was the same idiots were hardcore dancing and people kept backing up but I was in front so I didn't have to worry about that. I hate hardcore dancing, I wish they'd watch the ****ed show like everyone else.

In Flames is one of the legendary concert bands where the fans are just about cool with everything. I remember a couple of kids handing out the "If you don't like In Flames, Eat a bag of ****" shirts, that everyone wears at their shows, for free. Pretty cool stuff.
Posted by Brennivini saw them back in april when they came to dallas. they were pretty good in my opinion. i dont neccesarily think shadows can scream anymore but i still think he can growl and roar pretty well. the thing i hate most about his voice is when he drops it to that nasaly **** right in the middle of the chorus or verse. its way out of sync with the rest of the music. anyways, i would give them a 8 out of 10 when i saw them. they seem like they know what theyre doing when it comes to writing music.
