Cruachan ~ The Morrigan's Call

Posted by Klarth

I'm pretty psyched about this release - it's tentatively coming out in October, tracklisting as follows...

1. Shelob
2. The Brown Bull of Cooley
3. Coffin Ships
4. The Great Hunger
5. The Old Woman in the Woods
6. Ungoliant
7. The Morrigan's Call
8. Teir abhail Ru
9. Wolfe Tone
10. The Very Wild Rover
11. CuChulainn
12. Diarmuid and Grainne

I hope the production quality's better than that of Pagan.

I thought Pagan had pretty decent quality, especially when compared to Tuatha Na Gael. Still, Folk-Lore rules them all and yeah, I'm anticipating this release. Good find.

Speaking of Morrigan, have you checked out the band Morrigan? If you haven't, listen to the Celts album, and the song "Giants of Stone" if you want to get specific. The vocals remind me of a bit higher version of Kanwulf of Nargaroth, but the music is straight out of Bathory's Twilight of the Gods. Really epic stuff. They have an album coming out this year as well, damn I love 2006.

Well, this is out and this is amazing. "The Brown Bull of Cooley" seriously rocks - Their sound is also a little less folky and more metal-based in this release. Think Skyclad, but Gaelic and darker.

Pagan sucked, but I still have hope.
