Game rarity order?

Posted by pgorney

Would any of you savvy VB guys mind putting together a rarity order? I would imagine, based on recent ebay auctions, that it goes:

1. Virtual Bowling
2. SD Gundam Dimension Wars
3. Space Invaders
4. Virtual Lab
5. Insmouse
6. Space Squash
7. Virtual Fishing
8. Jack Bros
9. WaterWorld
10. 3D Tetris

I'm not sure where to go from there. 9 and 10 I'm unsure about, but aside from that, I am positive that the bottom 2 would be Virtual League Baseball and Mario Tennis!

Yeah, that pretty much seems accurate. Though, I am unsure about Space Invaders and Virtual Lab. I would almost assume that they are equally as rare. You will notice that this copy of Space Invaders sold for nearly $480. But, a previous copy of SI sold for a mere $261. So, you can't alway go by price to determine rarity. So many things factor into the selling price too. For instance; How much is a certain collector willing to pay for a particular game, and is it even available on ebay for him to place a bid? And is he/she even watching the auctions when one goes up? Anyway, I don't want to go off on a tangent here, so I'll stick to the point. Don't gage rarity by selling price. Though, when one person does put up their entire collection like that, it certainly does give you a pretty good idea.

While we are on the subject, it appears that someone else has a near complete collection up on ebay. When it rains, it pours.

And a copy of Space Invaders (item #8289562685 since I can't post URLS yet), about 3 days after the one went for $480, was sold to yours truly at a cool $245!

...And one guess who won it. :p:

Lucky b*stard... ;)

I think I paid about $350 for my copy. Maybe a little more. I don't remember and it gets hard to keep track. I know my copy of Virtual Bowling set me back a good $800 plus shipping. I was happy to see the recent copy sell for over $900 lol. At least that one is holding a somewhat steady value now.

Still...LBA...hunt a copy down. It's worth it. Jack Bros. is my favorite Virtual Boy game. :D And it has some sweet *** music. Remember the music on my site? It's the second level music thats played in Jack Bros :D.

Waterworld was fun for like.....2 levels lol. From a collector's standpoint: buy it. From a gamer's standpoint: burn it.

I do not play such devilish games. I will only play games that show support for The Lord Above. Would Jesus play such secular games?

Wow. you put virtual lab as #4? one copy went for 1000 dollars! Most people use mario tennis for many purposes such as
-a coster
-a fish bowl decoration
-a dog toy
-something to put under a wobbly table
-a paintball deflector

ya but seriously that game is soooo common! you can get one for 5$ average :O
