What are your plans for the next five or so years?

Posted by Xenos

I'm trying to work very, very hard to go to UC Berkeley. :( I don't intend on anything else really ... maybe pick more skills in different trades here and there. I hope I can learn more Chinese, French and Latin - though, realistically, I probably can only work on French. I'm also going to be entering a few "Cram Study" competitions which I hope I can win some medals/scholarships. So yeah, the next few years, hell, even decades of my life will be heavily geared towards school.

I guess aiming to more recent plans, I'm taking summer school, as always - I had a one week break and it's all good and I'm ready for more action/work. I've been getting tired lately, so I've been terribly moody ... but once I get work again, I'll be too busy with that. So it's all good.

Geez I don't have any specific dates or anything.. By the end of Winter I want to have a 4 wheel drive Jeep to add to my vehicle collection.

I want to be married by the age of 23 so I have 4 years...

Eh.... Thats really about it. I'm sure i'll think of more later.

Huh, any suitors so far?

His left hand, but since its technically male, their love is condemned by society.:(

My goals include: dont die, work, go to school, get drunk, and last but not least, play video games.

edit: NEXT summer is looking good for a hueg roadtrip.

Going to the biggest waterpark in the universe this summer or next (Noah's Ark in Wisconsin Dells) with my friends. I've been before, but always with family. After senior year, going to Japan with a friend of mine, going on a rave tour, and road tripping to Maine through Canada to get the 5 cent bottle deposit!

A lot of these I'd like to do sooner, but they would be better if I was over 18, or impossible if I'm under. After that, I'll probably kill myself out of boredom.

I have a really hard time getting perspective on the future, especially since I can't seem to find career choices that really interest me. All I know currently is that, after graduating next year, I'll be going to Arizona State University. It's more for convenience than anything, since I don't have to give up my room and can still visit all my friends nearby. I was originally interested in Northern Arizona University, which is up in the mountains and has a beautiful climate, but I wasn't so enthusiastic with the thought of sharing a dorm. I doubt I'd get along with my roomie very well, just since I'm used to having a room to myself.

Negative... :( I'm too picky I guess. I guess it's like trying on clothes. I've tried on a lot of clothes but very few have ever fit. But they ripped after a while :(

So no... But someday there will be.

LoS... i'm right handed :-P

I seriously find it hard to believe that any woman would find someone as retarded and goofy looking as you attractive. Then again, it helps t prey on highschoolers:cookie:

But seriously, after finishing high school I hope to at least get in a descent college.

I'm *praying every night* that my blog takes off so I could immerse myself in video games for a living :) If that doesn't work out, I'm stuck as a graphic designer for life until I can think of something else.

Actually many women do find me attractive. I don't really appreciate the retarded thing. I think you hold a personal grudge from VGC Big Brother but I was just f*cking with you to make drama. I wasn't trying to be a ****** bag to make you upset intentionally. I figured it'd spark interest.

Now by highschoolers can that include 17 or 18 yr olds? I'm 19 and my dating range is two below and 5 up :-P

I intend to be magna cum laude minimum at UNM where I have a full scholarship, and I hope to major in Business Administration with the possibility of post graduate education beyond that. I also hope to maybe enrich a relationship I have now, or find one to get serious about. A year of studies in Germany may end up happening so I can get some connections with the automotive groups over there.

Beyond that, I don't know much.

Posted by Fate

I'll have had my computer animation degree for quite a bit by the time five years pass. I'll probably end up working at the EA Tiburon studios to get started, then work my way up to other studios. I will be fully independent.

Posted by Ant

I honestly have no idea what my plans are.

I know I'm going to college next year again for sure. But I have no goals with that, so it's kinda pointless...beyond that, who knows.

1. Continue building my business.

2. Continue bodybuilding.

3. Buy a new car.

4. Buy a nice house. (I might need a little more than five years for this one)

5. Continue hanging out with friends and having fun.

6. Hopefully find a good partner. I'm not so sure about this one. I can't seem to trust people in that type of relationship anymore. It seems all these kids nowadays think it's alright to cheat on each other. OH, SOME RANDOM GUY WANTS TO STICK HIS PENIS IN ME EVEN THOUGH I'M IN A RELATIONSHIP?! OKAI!!!

Even one of my best friend some times gets with this girl when he knows she has a boyfriend. He says that it should be on her conscious, not his. I see where he's coming from, but in my opinion, that's still very disrespectful. Maybe when I'm in my 30's I can find a girl who has matured enough to not cheat, I dunno.

Than again, I know there must be tons of people out there who do want a truly dedicated relationship. It's just a numbers game. ;)

I have to decide what I really want my career to be while I learn how to groom. I'll probably start taking up some more uni courses next year.

I plan on taking a trip to the UK (hopefully other European countries, too) next year. I'll also be breeding lovebirds and cresteds possibly this year/beginning of next year.

Working hard to save up for when I move out, once I'm done school.

Other things I'm too tired to list.

I figured this would go with the topic...

When crafting a purpose, I find it’s helpful to first define where it is you actually want to go in life, breaking life down into five year chunks. Ask yourself this question: Ideally, where would I like to be in five years? I’m not necessarily talking about a geographic location, I’m talking about how you envision yourself looking, feeling and behaving. Are you fitter than you are now? Do you have a better job? Sometimes this is difficult to envision, and I’ve found something that helps. I think I found this over at Steve Pavlina’s website, but I can’t remember.

Some would call this a meditation, but I call it a visioning exercise. You may think it sounds silly, but try it; I think you’ll be surprised by the results. I sure was the first time I tried it.

This exercise will take about 15-30 minutes. During that time, you’ll need to be in a quiet area where you won’t be disturbed. You can either be sitting or lying down, with your eyes closed. During this exercise you’ll need to access your memories of the past, and use your imagination and creativity to help your mind create what does not yet exist.

First, get yourself totally relaxed and into a peaceful state. Then imagine a special room in your mind, which has two chairs facing each other. Sit in one chair, and in the chair opposite you, visualize your future self five years from now. This person appears as the ideal “you” you’re striving to become. He/she is physically fit, strong, brave, confident, driven, passionate, enthusiastic, etc. Have a conversation with this person for 5-10 minutes where you ask questions, and they willingly answer them. Imagine this person looking at you almost with a sense of nostalgia and compassion, since they know where you are right now as well as the challenges you’re dealing with, challenges they’ve long since overcome.

Eventually your future self will get up and leave. Get up and take their seat, and imagine your past self from five years ago entering the room and taking the first seat. So now you’re the future self (you, 2006) looking back on your past self (you, 2001). Take a moment to remember what your life was like exactly five years ago, and recall what that past you is experiencing. Now your past self is asking you questions about their future (your present), and you’re providing the answers. Think about the challenges and obstacles you were faced with five years ago. You may be amazed to look back and see just how trivially easy their challenges seem to you today, even though you may remember those obstacles and challenges appearing much grander when you were in their shoes. Take time to reassure the you of 2000 to that everything works out just fine in the next five years, and remind them that they may not have to worry as much about some things as they are now. You may also want to let them know about challenges you haven’t yet solved and are still working on.

Now imagine time being fast forwarded by five years. So now you are the you of 2011, and you’re facing the you of 2006, looking back on your present situation from the future, from a vantage point where you’ve already solved your biggest challenges. Now you see your 2005 self asking the same questions you were previously asking your 2010 self, and you’re able to answer them with confidence and certainty.

Then, as a final step, imagine all three of you in the same room together (the you of 2001, 2006, and 2011). Imagine the three of you walking towards each other and joining together in a flash of light to become one person. The three of you become an integrated whole, a single being who exists outside of time but has been splintered in order to experience the sensation of growth and change.

At this point slowly open your eyes and bring yourself back to reality. Ask yourself some questions. You may want to write down your answers to these questions. How has my life changed in the last five years? What have I learned about myself in the last five years? What were my biggest obstacles and challenges five years ago, and how big are they today? If I could change anything about the last five years, what would I change?

Now, remembering how you answered those questions, ask yourself these questions. How do I think my life may change in the next five years? What will I have to do or learn in order to become the person I imagine myself being in five years? What problems, obstacles and challenges am I having today that may not seem as large as I’m making them when I look back five years from now? Five years from now when I look back on my life, will I have any regrets? What do I need to change about myself to become the me of 2011 I envisioned?

I don't know about the next five years, but I definately know about this summer. I want to get a job, get in touch with some old friends I haven't spoken to lately and pretty much just hang out. I know that sounds cheesy, but, really, that's all I'm interested in lately. I also plan to catch up my homework the next year or so, and hopefully graduate by seventeen. For now, though, I guess I'll just spend my days selling paintings and drawings at the local farmer's market. (lol how sad is that?)
