At least they replaced him with another Martin. NO ONE WILL BE THE WISER.
Heard about this ages ago. I'm not really sure what he contributed compositionally to Opeth, but he was definitely really talented as a drummer.
I can't say that I know much about him or Martin Axenrot. Although the latter rivals Hellhammer for the sheer number of bands he seems to have been in.
Axenrot is a great drummer in his own right, but Lopez was THE DRUMMER for Opeth. I can't say this is very surprising though. He's been having a lot of problems over the last couple years.
:( Martin Lopez i a fantastic drummer and he fused all sorts of different drumming styles into metal. I'm sure the other guy is good too but like Grave Wisdom said Martin was THE drummer for Opeth.
omg the first time i read this i read "oprah" instead of opeth. i didn't catch that until the second time i read the music board.
