Some of my photography

Posted by Klarth

Last thursday I borrowed a digital SLR (a kind of film camera for those who don't know) from the school darkroom. I left the negatives in the camera by accident, and hey, the guy who runs the darkroom kindly took them to get developed. So, here's a little catalogue of my stuff, and the environment I live in.

Memorial Court. I decided to take an interesting angle on the World War I memorial near the main school gate.

The Memorial Garden. Opposite side of campus - There's an identical memorial here in a nice garden setting.

Mint Yard. The memorial from the first picture is just behind the point from which this photo was taken.

That Cat. I'm not entirely sure who she belongs to, but a cat's always an ample oppurtunity for a photograph.

Spires. View of the cathedral from the cloisters. Thought I'd take it at that angle to add drama to the photo - It was kind of lost when I butchered it scanning it in.

The Dean's Door. Door leading to a pretty pathetic garden which leads to the Deanery. Nice from one side, pretty grim from the side I didn't photograph.

Triangle Houses. So-called because they're arranged in a triangle. Eastern end of the cathedral is visible here.

The last three photos are ones I developed myself...

Within The Cloisters. Three tombs and some windows. I like the different angles and perspectives in this one.

Skewed Memorial. Another take on the memorial garden.

Home. The arch is part of a ruined monastery, and my dorm lies just behind it.

You're a pretty good photographer. I like it. You should take some more.

that school would be good in a horror movie. especially because the pictures are in black and white.

Ah! They're so neat! I tried my hand at photography once...couldn't work the camera. I'm bad with any type of technology :3

great photos! The angles on every picture look to suit the photo and the B&w really add to the photo!

but isnt the whole point of a digital SLR camera is not having film?

what kind of camera were you using?

Nice photos - hm, does you school have any creepy corridors? They might make a good scenery.

Wow, I really like them. It's very artistic. <333333

That seriously is a beautiful school; it must be a trip to be around such ancient architecture in these times. I also really liked the atmosphere that the black and white quality of the pictures created, and I especially loved this picture.

Overall, very nice photos. Keep up the picture taking, Jack.

I don't have alot of pictures as of yet (and alot of them aren't the greatest) but I love taking pictures, so it should fill up quickly

Not exactly. Difference between an analogue and digital film camera is that on an analogue camera, the film is exposed as long as you have your finger held on the shutter button. A digital SLR only keeps it open for a preset amount of time - The camera I was using can do both, but I had it on digital because I'm a lazy bastard and I'm dire with analogue photography.

Many. I'll grab some next time I've got a camera.

Hell yes it is. Just about every building containing classrooms is covered in romanesque/gothic architecture - Hell, the Latin block is something like 600 years old. It's phenomenal.

As for Flickr, I don't have an account, but I know plenty about it - Once my current Photobucket and Imageshack accounts fill up, I'll probably migrate.

I generally dont get impressed by old buildings and scenery very easily. I've got a bit of a preference for modern style buildins and decorating. That being said, your school is gorgeous.

Also, if I see that ****ing cat one more time...
