No. I am all for banning, even if it is just a two week ban to get them thinking about their actions. Give a few warnings and if they don't listen, give them a banning. Although, many learn their lessons once they see their posts getting physically deleted, which works wonders on its own. I think is super mods just physically remove their material, they will get the picture. Most members really don't warrant a ban with our ability to remove their material, unless they are really bad.
I don't think banning should be disable, but I do think the temporary banning option should be used more than the permanent one. If there's one thing I agree with Jesse with, it's that some noobs do change if given the chance to. So, if they act stupid, temporary ban them, and PM them a warning. If they act stupid after being warned, then ban them forever. That's what I do.
Disable it. It's putting the diversity of the boards in a stranglehold, and this place is becoming a dull copy of Game Over.
I agree with Linkman. Some people will change, others may not. If they don't, then they can stay banned. Sometimes a ban can do a person some good. At least they can sit and think about how idiotic they've been, and actually see that we're serious. Otherwise you're going to have imbeciles running around like they own the place.
You should just hide who banned who from supermods.
I think it's somewhat simpler to stem the flow of the posts than to physically filter them.
I think we should disable banning for a while, and see how it turns out.

Just leave the temporay ban up for now, and as has been said just see how it goes.
