I seriously doubt that Nintendo's online service will be as good as Xbox Live.

Friends list? Optimatch? Ranked games? Unranked? Voice chat? Those are just a few of the things that probably won't be in Nintendo's online service. If they are, or announced that those things will be in, let me know.

As for Call of Duty 3, I'm skipping it. I bet it's going to be bad. I'll be playing Rainbow Six Vegas and Gears of War. Maybe Forza too.

Well first of all it's made by a different developer, so chances are it won't be as great a game all around, single player and multiplayer. Plus theres gonna be vehicles, and IMO that hinders the gameplay. I'm not excited about getting killed by tanks and trucks.

On the other hand, I predict Wii's online multiplayer will blow. Like you said, it's free, and you can't get too much good for something free. And knowing Nintendo, there's bound to be a ton of safety features (lol friend codes).

Okay, fair enough. So what have we got out of this argument - that the Wii probably won't have voice outside of friends if it does have a mic, and that unified friends lists is out of the window.

The fact that it's free outweighs that completely for me. I don't need in-game voice chat, really, although it is a nice feature, and I expect it to be implemented anyway, as it already is being on DS. Even if not, I'll forgo it for a free service. And friend codes don't bother me at all. I can't see why people complain about them so much.

My original point was that for those who haven't got Live, or even either console, it's a complete no-brainer. And I was going to lead up to the point that I'm predicting free Live by the Vista launch.

No, Microsoft will hold out until the last possible second. They need the money as much as possible. The competition will be the deciding factor on when they do it, but Vista is the final deadline (which they can always push back, I guess).

I have a 360 and I'll have Live by the time the Wii comes out. If there are any cross-platform games, I can see myself getting the Wii version immediately in almost every case, as it's twenty dollars cheaper. 360 will probably be the machine I use for exclusives.

What'll be interesting for me is Virtual Console prices vs. Arcade prices. Am I correct in saying that Sonic 1 is coming to both? How much price difference, I wonder.

I'm the opposite of you. Multi-platform games will be bought on the 360. Exclusives on the Wii. I like pretty graphics, and I want to play the games as they were meant to be played (in most cases). Though I can definitely see the VC prices being lower. I think Nintendo might be a bit more smart.

And also I hate to bring the argument back up, but I intentionally don't use the headset when I'm playing with strangers. It will suck playing friends with no headset, I like having the option to just not use it because most people are pricks and it's pretty **** hard to get out of a firefight and mute a whole room full of *******s, but playing friends with no headset isn't very fun.

I think that, at its current price, Xbox Live (Gold) shouldn't even be debated. $50 a year? Come on! Even if you're underage, your parents shouldn't have a problem at all affording such a low-cost entertainment issue, as long as you aren't some worthless child who doesn't do anything for their parents or appreciates them raising you.

Just a quick notice - I opened up another Gamertag to grab another free trial, with an American address so I can grab US-only content. If you need xbox live, go to walmart and buy a live box (there usually near the phones). The go to the bank place $50 bucks in a bank acount and ask them for a check card. 3 days later you'll find it in the mail. Call the number on the back of the Xboxlive package. The person on the phone will ask for your credit card number, give them your debit card (check card) number and there you go. You're ready for online play.

We all know Skitzo, and we know he wouldn't screw us over.

Same here. I deleted Vamp and some other VGC members off of my list because we never talk or play with each other.

I never add random users that I don't know. I think I only have like 8 friends, but I like it like that so I don't get 5 billion notices when someone logs on.

In some instances there are some people I really like to play with, so I prefer them. If we meet up again, I sometimes send a friend request. If afterwards we never play, then I delete them.

Um, there's like the easiest way ever to do that. If you guys play normal amounts of ranked Gears, the host usually comes up with a match that you have to find at the end of the match you just played. I play with friends all the time! You can also send room description messages to friends online. All you have to do is have your NAT open so you can connect with whoever is hosting.

Well, the easiest way ever would be to go into your profile and select 'Join Session in Progress'. But noooo...

Player matches are gay. No Achievements.

Gears is gay for no matching-making and taking achievements way too ****ing seriously.

Yeah, I know, but some games are following that trend of making you fight really hard for your Achievements. I think the limit is 1000 per game, which isn't too much.

SHAQATTAQ32, I'm on Gears way too many hours a day.

It's easy to join a ranked match, yeah, but I only play with up to three people and they all have to be on my team. I don't give people kills in ranked matches because it sucks. Nobody I play with does that, even if they have friends on the other side. If they did, I wouldn't play with them.

Gears has leaderboards. :o

I don't think it was maintenance simply because it usually doesn't lock-up the console. That, and it doesn't give you an error message, especially an MTU error, when it shuts down for maintenance. Probably just Hardkill's ****ty server finally melting down and ****ing everyone else up... somehow. I'll be sure to blame him anyways. And you to for making me think I was the only one and causing me to try and figure out a solution on my own :(

It's probably router issues. If I were you I'd get an alternate server and IP. It worked for me. Depending on which combination of IP and server I use, my NAT can be open or closed.

I highly recommend knocking up the difficulty from Tough to Ruthless. It prevents it getting tedious as all reports are saying, and it means you really need to focus on levelling up - I've just got to the Volk island and their rocket launchers kill with one hit, and that's with 2-star Strength. Luckily I managed to nick one. Tables turned!

Most games I just say I hate when I think they're okay and I can usually understand why someone might like it, but Christ! It's GTA and everything involving cars besides throwing them is ****ing terrible, the shooting's terrible, the plot's terrible, and it looks like a butt. I find it hard to believe the game gets that much better than the awful, awful demo just because you jump higher.

Hey, got news for you - you can jump just as high in the demo as you can in the real game.

But I disagree with you on pretty much every point. For starters, it's nothing like GTA. At all. The driving is terrible, but only because you haven't levelled up. Shooting is basic; gets better if you put the time in. Plot? **** plot in a game like this. Visuals: uh, awesome. Like, seriously. I've stood on the highest building on one side of the map and been able to see the other. No fog, no slowdown, very very little popup. It's the most impressive thing in the game, because it's cel-shaded. And it's not even, really.

In the demo you can't get past a certain JUMPIN' level. Which is what I was getting at. So everything just sucks when the level is low? Do the car physics suddenly stop being ****ty when you collect enough physics-seriously-please-stop-being-awful orbs? Do the cars stop bleeding when you hit them if you're cars-don't-bleed-when-you-run-into-them level is high enough? Does the lock-on stop aiming at dead bodies when the let-me-shoot-the-guy-with-a-rocket-pointed-at-my-face level is high enough? I sure hope so. If the driving actually stops being bad I can see the game not-sucking, or at least sucking a little less.

also, I use "GTA" to mean sandbox and DOUBLE ALSO, animal crossing also doesn't have fog or slowdown and I think everyone can agree it still looks like a butt. There are more important things to take into consideration, i.e. whether or not the graphics are easily mistaken for butt.

Your post is full of wrong. Seriously, it's like you're so ill-informed, it's actually morphed into a disease.

No, you can't get past a certain jumping level in the demo. That's because it's the maximum level. 4-star agility is the highest it goes, but gaining skill in the demo is accelerated.

The driving is by far the weakest point of the game, agreed. At least, at the start. Run over a few gang members, do some stunts, and it levels up, giving you a transforming car and a faster top speed, and better handling. Cars don't bleed in any sense of the word, I have no ****ing idea where you got that from. Aiming at dead bodies only happens if you have your crosshair over the dead bodies - locking on in this game is not something to substitute for actual aiming. In GTA, you'll automatically lock on to the nearest person that's the biggest threat (most of the time). In this, you have to use the right stick to aim at them, then hold LT to keep your aim at them - and then you can jump from roof to roof taking potshots however you like without losing them.

I think you're focusing too much on the driving. It's really not about driving at all. I spent four hours just now, randomly running around, having an absolute blast of a time just punching people about and blowing things up, collecting agility orbs and such.

Lastly, people need to stop using GTA as an example of a sandbox game. It's not, it's multilinear with sandbox elements. Crackdown is a sandbox game and only that - a toy rather than a game, if you will - and that's what I think it excels at. It gives you the tools to do stuff and then just lets you loose - you can run about and do whatever the hell, or you can focus only on eviscerating the gangs, or whatever, but you're never tied into doing any one set of things.

Oh, and the graphics? I think they're awesome, but that's just a graphic artist talking.

So, uh, should I buy Crackdown? :)

But seriously guys, NBA Street Homecourt is a LOT of fun. IT RUNS AT 60 FPS. AHHHHH

HEY GUYS, I CAN JUMP, THIS GAME SUCKS BECAUSE IT'S A ****TY MARIO CLONE LOL. See what I did there? I took a basic element and compared it to another game that's nothing like it. Whoa, you can drive and shoot in an open world. It has more in common with Hulk than it does with GTA.

Also, the graphics are awesome. Wtf. I just think you're making up reason to hate this game. It's addictive, and it's fun. Nothing more, nothing less. It's why we play games.

lol GTA invented the genre. It's a lot like saying a platformer has something in common with Mario, which is hardly a ridiculous claim. The environments are filled with cars, I somehow suspect they expected them to be driven.

Look at the effin' civilians man. I can draw better than that with Crayons. And the sad thing about it is that I'm not looking for reasons to hate the game, I really wish I liked it so I wasn't wasting $60 on the Halo 3 beta. :-\

Okay, so I feel really guilty now. I basically ****ed up Fate's game by hopping in and utterly destroying all the bosses on the first island except the kingpin, and she has hardly levelled up at all.

Although it's useful to know that throwing a car through a stunt marker with a person inside it nets that person the stunt.

Okay, the Volk alleys road race is pretty much impossible. The SUV is too big (at least, at 4*) to go through one of the tunnels, and the Supercar can't get over some bollards that are in the way. Anyone done it?

Hahaha, I was going to hit you up on AIM to ask the same thing. I cannot do it. I'm always twenty seconds over no matter what. Apparently the best car to use is the small sports car that spawns near the start, but I couldn't do it.

Wanna try this in co-op tomorrow or something? The only other trick I can think of using the sports car at the beginning, placing the supercar after the blockers, and once we hit the marker, jump out and get in the supercar for the rest of the way. It'll save just enough time to get us to the end, assuming the run is completely perfect.

Also, download the GRAW2 MP demo.

I did it last night using just the Supercar. If you hit it just right, you can blast right through the bollards and finish fine. It's obvious the race is designed to prevent you using any Agency car, though.

So the demo is worth downloading? GRAW sucks.

Man, that game was the worst. Speedfreak and I spent at least two thirds of the game after one guy had lagged out trying to find the other, camouflaged as he was against the scenery. Eventually I saw him crouched behind a wall and I beat the **** out of him.

No, I actually sucked when Halo 2 came out, and playing with Skitzo and s0ul and friends is what made me into such a beast. Well, actually I think a lot of it had to do with Rumble Pit also, but they still had a part in my Halo upbringing.

I just got back from a very uninteresting LAN. The guys there were hardcore Matchmaking newbs. The first game (MLG Slayer, Lockout, 4v4), I went 26-0. The second game (Popcorn Gun Fun-aka Default Slayer, Lockout, 4v4), I rocked hard, 'cause the poor kids wouldn't pick up a single BR.

I tried playing Halo 2 on 360, and, oddly enough, it sucks! The controls feel kind of slippery, like I was constanly ice-skating. We played MLG Snipers on Headlong (LAME!), and although I went 18-2, I vowed from the on to never play Halo 2 on a 360.

Yeah, I don't notice it either. Though I didn't play a ton of halo on the original xbox, so I wouldn't.

That looks like the best game ever. I really need to prepare for this experience. Seriously, I feel so unready. Graphically that looks as good as Gears of War, if not better, and the gameplay looks untouchable when it comes to FPS. The transition to modernization seems fantastic. Can't wait. CoD4 > Halo 3.

Oh yeah, I'd definitely say that looks better than gears. The effects, all the detail and just the amount of stuff constantly going on far outdoes gears.

For some reason, I really liked the shrub camouflage on the rifle.

Only problem I ever noticed was the occasional voice cutting out, like "GO GO G-" otherwise everything look and sounded great. Plus, seeing Price rise up out of grass was pretty **** cool.

I hate how you always play ranked. I never know what I can join or if it's even worth it :( Gears really needs to let friends join ranked games. Seriously. It's dumb as hell. But hopefully by the time the holidays roll around you'll be playing better games. Like CoD4 or Gaylo. At least those games have party systems that you can bring with you into ranked matches.

The only 360 live game I have right now is GRAW 2 and Saints Row, but I have some old xbox games that are less popular that were fun on the old xbox live like Burnout 3 and Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory. So if you got any of those and wana play for the hell of it, add me.

I certainly wish I wasn't stuck with the original Xbox and only Halo 2! But, hey, if you guys ever want to rock the Tetris or Guilty Gear, I'm down. As soon as I get a 360, I'll get the hell off the Halo and get on the Gears or Shadowrun. I can always play H1 or H2 locally as a LAN, why should I play it online?
