What's the main difference between a regular Smash battle and one where people are going at it with all the skils?
I hear of wave dashing and can do it on a once in awhile basis but, is there a lot of hesistating when two people are going to attack? When you attack a human player, and they know what they are doing, you can't 100% know if it will hit you on not. Because they might fake it, or run right past you or do something else, or pre-emtively attack in order to get you open for their real attack. So many other things
Is it possible to continually "phyche" your opponent out in order to attack them? I try it sometimes but I'm always moving. Block&Attack people tend to fall fo tactics that have you run through the opponent
Is there any videos of this type of thing going on?
Are we talking about feinting with wave-dashing, or mind games mid-battle? Both work pretty dang well.
With wave-dashing, a good time to mess people around using it is when the other player's character can't do it well enough. For example, you're Luigi and your foe is Falco. You can lead them around the arena just wavedashing on a whim. It's a great frustrator - that's where mind games comes in. If you can make your opponent angry, upset, confused, frustrated, or anything but focused, you can get a pretty large advantage over your combatant, without even needing superior skill within the game! Of course, back-chatting, trash-talking and physically distracting people is just out of line, but if you can wear down your opponent's will by leading them on a chase around the area, or simply dodge all their big shots, you'll have their mood and stamina at a low, making ass-kicking a walk in the woods.
I have a few 00ber-videos on my old computer - I'll try and upload them for you.
Heh Arczu you should watch some of Bulby's vids. His matches are all wavdashing and fake outs it's nuts. I myself have eyt to perfect my wavedashing skills. I mean I can do it to a decent extent, but not so much that I use it all the time. And ocne you are good at it you cna do moves while wavedashing so it can egt pretty wild out there.
For me I am more of a ****ing annoyance if you ever get the chance to play me. I'll roll so much it ****es the other guy off and he will usually go insane. One time at a match I had at my friend's house, I rolled so often he threw the controller at me. I mean if I wasn't powershieldign his every smash attack like a little pussy, I was rolling behind him for a backstabbing shot of my own. If I'm not doing that I'm airborn. Espcieally with Falco I'm a mad spiker so it would be wise to stay away from the edge of the arena. Of course now that I have a little more mastery over wave dashing I tend to use it more and it does work better in some cases than rolling like a little fag that can't fight for crap. Not only that, but mastering spikes with some charavters can be very nifty, especially for a quick edge KO.
Boy... you roll-mad technique would fail hardcore in the old smash. Halfway through, you can get slammed by any attack (you could turn around and grab the person AS THEY ROLL PAST YOU). You would drive my friend nuts though.
For melee, Trash talking works pretty well, execpt we don't talk trash. I Phyce him out by imitating sound effects from the game. So on a Damage ratio 2.0 Supper Sudden Smash setting, I could imitate some item effects and make him pre-dodge as I get close, then just peg him for an insta-KO. (By the way, did I mention how darn fun this mode is?!).
Pro wavedashing sounds hard. Maybe I'll practice it out sometime and get better with it. I can't power guard worth a sh** lol. Thos videos sound cool too.
I have been showing my vids around lately to a few people. If you want to see, post so in here and I'll PM you some info to get to them. Comment on my playing cause I wanna get better. If you have videos, post and tell us that you do, and tell us how we could gain access to it.

I think these links still work, also, I haven't uploaded a video in a long long time. These are old, but you still might see what you want to see. I haven't had the motivation to record newer ones, I might soon though, I'm reaching a new high in the game >_<
Edit : Lmfao, I noticed these videos are so old, this is before I started using grabs with falco.

Includes some of the things you mentioned arczu (psyching out, ect), and more. Only with fox though.

That's a good video to help you learn how to do a lot of the moves. Personally, I just started wavedashing, so I'm not really good at it yet. As for everything else, I haven't even tried any of it except Powershielding.

Thats... an excellent video. Pretty much, for anyone who knows how to play already, this lets them learn advanced techniques the quick way with text. 2 things in that video I noticed I never do also :-x, or have completely forgotten were real. Triangle jumping... maybe I stopped doing this because 1) I was bad at it or 2) try fighting pc chris or wes and this pretty much didn't work on them.
And the press down and attack, that... I'll try doing :-x. Yea, I'm bookmarking that video, good find wherever you got that o_o
Alot of that video is good, but some of the stuff isn't really "Advaced", like Teching, Juggling, and Sidestepping. These are all things that are covered in either the instruction booklet, or in the "How to Play" video with the game. But for the many advanced moves it does cover, it probably is the best training video I've come accross.
http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...+fox&pl=tru e
in this video, how do you run jump and turn around when you land then wavedash to edgehog?
that is very useful...
backlanding is the term used... i dont know how to do that, or shoot the opposite direction with fox while in the air, after shooting one direction.
Your link to googlevideo isn't working...
look back on the first page, i found it there.
shoot the opposite direction with fox while in the air, after shooting one direction.
I don't know what exactly you mean, I can't see a use being so high in the air, shoot forward, and then landing and shooting the other way... but I do play falco. I do run away from the opponent during the match sometimes and jump the same direction I'm running AND shoot the laser behind me at the opponent. Precise finger tap movements does it, tap to the opposite of where you're going and press B, so you don't phantasm OFF the stage or just phantasm in general? If you wait too long to press b though, obviously you'll shoot the direction you're going :-x
As for the x, seriously, I can't believe I missed this. A good luigi is still no match for a good falco. He can wavedash all he wants, but falco pretty much destroys any of his game on the ground with a laser, well timed or not. Seriously.
Ok, I've been gone abit. You see.. Ninjas.. just.. Ninjas, lots of em. I just got back, barly alive to tell the tale.
Now leetness played. hmm. Perhaps these will be of some help

Now, lil tidbit of the people.
M2K. A fuking stat ***.. a toplister around 12th best in the USA or somthing like that.. NJ, textbook Fox and other characters.
Ryoko. A peach with style and good turnips, and my ***, he can actualy USE other smashes and make them work(a zelda low teir/fox counter)
Magus. Jigs ***.with style and a deathly timed rest. If missed however, this guys got a super crouch cancle c stick lined with a tech... He lives like samus when he misses rests..
DarkBlade.. psh.. that nub.. couldent even kill a pilar falco with link.. its not like faclo>link, and M2K>blade.. but anyway.. thats kinda old, and I was just developing to his style as he was mine, we did stupid sht back and forth(bomerange.. what was I thinking..) I use more arrows, and bombs now, aswell more sex kicks and back kicks, and my ***, I can actualy live longer thnx to maguses C stick DI^^
I believe M2K did alot of vids with me first time I met him, so I can never talk agian.. But I cant find anymore of me. there.. somewere..
Do note.. Im a Pure Link.. no 2ndary.. Magus uses jigs on M2K cause hes got no mindgames and Gndf on Ryoko cause Ryos got Magus' Jigs rest down to a knot.
I just.. fight, no counter. just spam, and fight.. I think thats why I suk alot now..
Now, to vanish forever

...?
Blade, seriously, you are talking on a level that seriously blows me away here. What is a "stat g0d"? What is a "Jigs g0d"? Pilar Falco? OMFrickin'G you just chipped my brain!
*Reverses Shock*
I saw the Link match (some killer edge tricks back there). The boomerang was SO much more useful back in the old smash because of its radius and speed. It's radius is small now and changes too! Best use for this is to throw past the enemy for the return, or behind yourself and see if you can get some re-coil on it. Well that's what I think anyway.
My smash "level" won't be going up for awhile because I don't have any humans to play against!
Stat *** = one who knows te statistics of the game smash.
http://www.smashboards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=30064
Thats M2K's stat page.(Mew2King)
Jig *** = one who uses jigglypuff and is good >.>
Piller falco is one who basically just down airs(meteor) to shines
agian and agian. Not really mindgames as to full practice and perfection.
Note: I respect non textbook characters and players. By this I mean one who doesnt use characters for there high tier usage. and that the player has his or her own "Style" . MY style is spam defense, m2k is a textbook extreme guy. Only goes into whats effective and what works and practices that to the fullest, using it agian and agian till it works. Textbook people ushualy have low mindgames .
But, I do respect his skill level.
