They've been showing Platoon on T.V almost every day on a movie channel on T.V and I thought it was pretty good but what are the top 10,If you can't think of 10, then top 5.

I still need to see Deer Hunter, Thin Red Line, and Apocalypse Now before I can respond. However, Enemy at the Gates (!), Platoon, Last of the Mohicans, Das Boot, We Were Soldiers, and Full Metal Jacket were excellent. Forest Gump and Legends of the Fall had some good war themes/scenes to them as well. Jarhead was uh, less than great.

Newer. Big, epic battles require more modern effects, and really, isn't feeling like your in the battle the whole point of it?

The thing about Jarhead is that it's not a war film in the sense of battles and fighting. It's about war, but how can you make battles out of a war where all the Iraqis got pwned by airstrikes?

The Metroid comment when they're on the plane annoyed me, though.

I recommend Saving Private Ryan and Band of Brothers, if serials count.

1. Tae Gu Ki (brotherhood of war)
A brilliant korean war movie, by far one of my favorite films ever.

2. Saving Private Ryan
One of the greatest films ever.

3. Platoon
One of my all time favorite movies

4. Full Metal Jacket
One brilliant movie.

5. We Were Soldiers
One of my favorite war movies

6. Wind Talkers
A brillaint movie in my eyes, I loved this film.

7. Tears of the sun
Another one of my favorite movies about war and such, I know not a lot of people found this movie great but I did like it

8. Thin Red line
I liked this movie and thought it was great, and it still is.

9. Glory
Not one of my all time favorite movies, but it was a great film

10. Deer Hunter

Full Metal Jacket is overrated, and so over-quoted and referenced it makes me sick. I thought the film was entertaining, but enough is enough.

I'm going with The Last Samurai.

I could go on and on about movies like Black hawk down, soldiers and saints, and Saving Private ryan. But I'f you buy the DVD set (this actually count's it as a movie then) I would have to say the "BAND OF BROTHERS" Hands freakin down, trumphs every and all war movies. It's graphic, It's 100% authentic and some of the people who played parts in the movie where actually desendants of the actual soldiers they played.

the deer hunter is about as much a war movie as jarhead. excellent, but hardly what id consider a war movie. im gonna go ahead and add the Sniper trilogy to the list
