How can I get through a firewall/password-protected internet connection?

Yeah, the Nintendo DS supports WEP. You just need to know the password.

Yes, you do.
If there's a firewall, though,you might still have problems. In that case, turn it off when you want to play.
When you set it up, you should get all the settings automatically, but it'll ask you for the passcode. You'll find it in the properties of the router in Control Panel.
