Animal Crossing: Where did all the good people go?

Or on my case where did all the good animals go.

Recently a friend of mine got a Gamecube and Animal Crossing and we visited each others town and all was cool.

Then, my favourite animal moved to his town.
I guess that all right, its just bad luck.

Then my 2nd favourite moved.
Then another animal moved.
Then my third favourite left and so on...

In total I have lost 6 animals including my 4 favourite ones.

Something tells me the game makes the ones you like the most (probably determined by how much you talk to/write letters too) the ones most likely to leave.

Yeah I guess so.

Since then I got a few of my favourites back.
Sadly though, none of my originals live in the town anymore.
They are spread over 2 othher towns, and some have gone forever.

Or have they?...
