Thoughts on the AMD Sempron 3000+

I was curious to see what you guys thought about this chip and the hardware that typically surrounds it. My current laptop is nearing eight years of age and is thoroughly outdated, and, I've decided to go pick up a laptop. To save money, and also not get anything I didn't need, I decided that an AMD chip, or a Celeron, might be OK. All I do is surf and wordprocess anymore, so XTREM processing power isn't that important.

I've already picked out a unit and take delivery today, but, I can take it back if it sucks. If there's anything horrible about this chipset, I'd like to know.

If you don't need processing power, anything is okay. even the 3000+ might be overkill.
By the way, do you mean processor or chipset?

And Intel is better for laptops.

Nothing wrong with it. Laptops do, as hig said, run better with Intels due to Intels ability to stay decently cool compared to some AMDs. You're good otherwise.
