Metroid Prime 3

Posted by GameMiestro

Even though we dont know much about the game, there might as well be a thread for it. What we do have is the screenshots from E3(these are just a few)...

Clearly, the graphics for the screenshots were somewhat Gamecube-ish (but that's one fine looking Varia Suit!). The real facinating aspect is the environment. Where is she? What is that blue stuff? The video for this is even more puzzling- you can view it at http://media.revolution.ign.com/media/748/748547/vids_1.html .

Any thoughts?

Fix'd :)
What is that blue stuff?

Dude, it's Phazon! The last game in the Prime trilogy is going to take place where all those Phazon meteors have been coming from!

Posted by GameMiestro

I figured it had something to do with phazon. But why is it moving in those long, blue towers?

maby it's in it's most consentrated form

It was made using a GC kit, so that's expected.

Nintendo just gave out slightly beefed-up GCN devkits before they handed out the Revo ones, or so I'm told. But considering Metroid is an in-house title (or are Retro doing it?), maybe the Revo devkits hadn't even been finished by that stage...

Retro makes Prime. They're basically first-party...

No company had a Rev kit at the point the MP3 trailer was made. They were just using an altered GC kit I believe. Could be wrong.

The answer, from wikipedia-
Despite this, it is the only Revolution game for which Nintendo has displayed media; however, the film clip shown was rendered on modified GameCube hardware [1].

I forgot to mention how sweet the new gunship looks. This is her 4th or 5th one though, right? At least she doesn't splurge all of her bounties on shoes...

Posted by GameMiestro

Indeed. They made it look more like I expected her gunship to look like (in 3-D that is), more so than the Metroid Prime 2 version. Notice how her ship uses the exact same color scheme as her suit...

She'd probably ruin them in five minutes tops. :>

I look forward to seeing this when it comes out for the Revolution. I might just buy the Revolution when it comes out just for this game, because I've always loved the Metroid games. d=

There are some rumors out that it would also be released on the Gamecube. I wouldn't be suprised.

No ****ing way would that happen.

MP3 is one of those "killer-aps". They need it to push their new system. If they brought it over to the GC, it's just giving people more reasons to not buy the Rev.

If it was true, the Revolution version would be better. It would probably be like a game coming out simultaniously on the GBA and the GameCube... Seriously though, if Metroid Prime 3 came out on the GameCube, would that stop you from buying a Revolution?

Posted by Zeta

I wish it would come out for GCN. I've grown too accustomed to MP1/2's control schemes.

Me? Uh, no. I'm too big of a "console" fan to not buy it. However, it's just like the situation with Halo 3. MS won't put it out for the Xbox because they want people to buy the 360. And since killer-aps sell systems (hence killer-ap), they want to put those games on the system they want to sell.

Makes sense, right? Especially when it applies to the Revolution, who might have trouble getting off the ground. MP3 WILL sell Revolutions. They don't want to give people excuses to not buy their new system. That's all there is to it.
